A Spec. House Garden

BRIEF: Very modern, low maintenance and simple with a broad appeal for all those who will visit this spec house created by a new developer wanting to showcase their work, ie., wanting to impress new investors!

CHALLENGES:A huge height difference between road and the top of the hose created a dwarfing feeling as one enters. Narrow retained sections around the house. Large expanses of bare wall seen through the windows facing the back of the property. 

 

SOLUTIONS: Adding established trees created a scale that is more relatable and an entrance which s more welcoming and also softened and integrated angles and hard surfaces. Colours used picked up those in the rest of the estate and also the tomes of the built surfaces, adding warmth and vibrancy and life. A retaining feature wall steps down the height from the top area to integrate it into the living lawn space and provide a pleasing  view garden from within the home. Windows facing the back now look out onto wall trellises covered with scented creepers and other lush and interesting planting which will cascade down the retaining wall in time. .
