Oranjezicht Garden

Location: Oranjezicht, Cape Town

BRIEF: A wild, natural, whimsical garden with a natural pool and entertainment areas to be used as an AirBnB. 
​

CHALLENGES: Drought conditions, rocky soil, steep incline, limited space. 

 

SOLUTIONS: Rainwater tanks were installed for irrigation. Drought resistant local fynbos species were planted. Thick mulch helps to maintain soil moisture.  A local wood carving artist was enlisted to carve sculptures out of the felled pines. Rock from the site was incorporated into garden features.
